The Sparkling Ayala Avenue!

You'll know Christmas is just around the corner when Ayala Avenue, the country's prime avenue, lights up its decorated center aisles with Christmas joy to spread hope and love to the working crowd of Makati Central Business District

At exactly 6 o’clock tonight, together with Ayala Avenue, the major thoroughfares of Makati Central Business District will light up with a dazzling display of more than a million LED lights which instantly put Makati denizens and visitors into a festive mood.

Designed by Zenas Pineda, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, Paseo de Roxas, and extending to South Avenue are ready to brighten up our moods with their lighted wild flowers and weeds design that are sure to kick the Christmas spirit in each and everyone of us.

Resembling bursts of fireworks at first glance, and dotted with geometric elements with intricate patterns, flower-like lights adorn the streets’ center islands, symbolizing the need to go back to life’s simple joys, when we find wonder and pleasure in the quiet and unique beauty of the things around us. The sparkle of over a million lights is designed to evoke the true essence of the season: counting our blessings and sharing what we have with others.

“We wanted our Christmas installations this year to be elegant, as well as meaningful, the way Christmas should be celebrated,” says Mel Ignacio, Assistant Vice President of Ayala Land.

The Ayala Avenue Christmas Light Switch On is also the start of Makati's yearly Christmas tradition, which includes the most anticipated and well-lauded premier of the Lights and Sound show that is slated on November 12 at Ayala Triangle Gardens ; and the biggest outdoor Christmas Bazaar in Circuit Makati on November 28 to 30

Shop till you drop from the amazing finds from kidpreneurs, instagrammers, celebrities, Wellworth department store, and many more. Makati is also bringing together some favorites from Mercato Group and Family Mart for a night of indulgence and food bingeing. Shopping and snacking will be made more enjoyable through various activities such as outdoor movies, concerts of OPM artists, educational talks, as well as educational workshops.

Come December, the grand Christmas celebration in Makati continues with Makati high school students filling the air with holiday hymns in the 5th Makati Christmas Caroling Competition on December 16. Christmas is also a time for prayer and reflection and the Ayala Triangle Gardens will serve as a fitting venue for the Thanksgiving masses that will be held from December 15 to 23.

For city dwellers like me, Holiday festivity wouldn't be complete without experiencing any of these things that Makati City has prepared for everyone. So this Christmas, remember to Make it Happen, Make it Makati

Happy Rammmpa!
